Canning Town School Surfacing Project

At this school in Canning Town, we were commissioned to remove and replace a large area of worn and damaged surfacing within the playground. The existing 350m² rubber crumb surface had deteriorated significantly over time due to constant use and exposure to the elements. As a result, it had become uneven, unsightly, and no longer provided the safe, reliable surface required for a busy school environment.

The project began with the careful removal and disposal of the failed rubber crumb material. Once the old surface had been cleared, our team thoroughly inspected and prepared the underlying sub-base to ensure it provided a stable and durable foundation for the new installation. Proper groundwork is essential for any surfacing project, helping to maximise longevity and prevent future issues.

To provide a stronger and more resilient solution, we installed a brand-new asphalt surface across the entire 350m² area. Asphalt was selected for its durability, low maintenance requirements, and ability to withstand the heavy daily foot traffic associated with school use. The finished surface offers a clean, professional appearance while providing a safe and practical space for students and staff.

Understanding the importance of minimising disruption, our team carefully coordinated the works around school hours and site requirements. The project was completed efficiently and to schedule, ensuring the play area was ready for immediate use. The result is a long-lasting, high-quality surface that enhances safety, functionality, and the overall appearance of the school’s outdoor space.
